This position oversees drilling operations throughout DFI, and is responsible to recruit, train, and develop drill operators and drill assistants as well as ensure equipment and ancillary are stocked and maintained for peak operational effectiveness.
Job DutiesResponsible for training of new workers as well as experienced crew recurrent training
Ensure client satisfaction of drill crews, collaborate with supervisor to alter syllabus of drilling program if required to accommodate changes in industry
Ensure company safety policies and procedure are practiced through mentorship and enforced through disciplinary process if required
Ensure company policies and procedures are understood as well as reviewed for effectiveness
Responsible for the development of field crews assigned to drills throughout Western Canada
Ensure drilling equipment is kept in good repair, identify and recommend units for minor/major overhaul, maintain adequate stock and condition of ancillary drilling equipment
Maintain drilling equipment inventory as well as create/maintain tracking system
Forecast manpower and equipment needs up to 8 weeks in advance
Collaborate with HR and Branches in selection of and interviews with prospective employees
Cultivate relationships with employees and customers
Ensure equipment not under care and control of an operator is adequately maintained
Be prepared to operate equipment when required
Prepare employees evaluations and/or performance improvement plans for submission to branch/divisional management
Act as direct supervisor for projects with multiple drills
