Job Profile

The Parts technician will be a key figure in supporting DFI’s facility and field operations, and branches, in supplying parts and materials to sustain efficient operations. The facility includes the following departments: pipe mill, screw pile fabrication, maintenance and machine shop, welding, paint booth and an assembly department. Field operations and branches will require supplies shipped to site, branch, or require a purchase order to complete their purchases.

Job Duties

  • Receive parts requests and fill orders for internal customers, via email, parts counter, phone.
  • Obtain and supply quotes for internal customers when requested.
  • Lookup items in parts’ catalogs and equipment drawings
  • Create purchase orders with approved vendors
  • Order parts from vendors and manufactures
  • Complete the PO process, ensuring orders are correctly coded for AP month end.
  • Loading and unloading shipments from couriers with forklift
  • Ensure accuracy of all incoming shipments
  • Receive parts into inventory system and distribute material to proper departments
  • Complete order picking and branch transfers
  • Ensure parts are properly issued out to equipment from inventory
  • Follow all DFI safety policies and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

  • Journeyperson parts certificate, Alberta or interprovincial.
  • Minimum 3-year experience as a parts technician, heavy duty preferred with back counter service shop experience
  • Purchasing parts and completing purchase orders.
  • Basic computer skills, and able to read equipment drawings
  • Customer service oriented
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Forklift operating experience and Safety conscious
  • Physically fit and able to safely lift and move heavy objects
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
