Job Profile

Our new build Assembly Technicians enjoy a flexible, clean, healthy, and organized team dynamic where they work together or independent in a challenging and rewarding environment to fit, align, plumb, assemble, test and commission new equipment using new or recommissioned parts within the fabrication group. Custom designed equipment can range from 45 Ton purpose-built Picker truck, 50 Ton crawler crane, Air Rotary surface mining, Auger Drilling and auxiliary equipment. The DFI and Assembly group management understands, the most valuable ideas and concepts are discovered by the front lines staff and encourage input from all levels to consistently improve equipment grade, quality and performance.

Job Duties

  • Participate in facility health and safety practices
  • Maintain a good attitude and practice critical thinking skills
  • Perform tasks within or beyond there skillset in a controlled environment
  • Fit, plumb, assemble new parts, install small or large components to spec including but not limited to Pumps, PTO, Gearboxes, Generator, Power plant, Compressors, Booms, Derricks, Torque tube, sub frames, cooling packages, operators cabin, Track assemblies etc..
  • Layout and plan project parts placement and fitment.
  • Crimp and clean hydraulic hose assemblies
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Commission new equipment including setting hydraulic pressure and flow
  • Operate forklift, overhead crane, laser level, and heavy shop tools as needed
  • Work with other team members mechanical engineering, welding, machining and painting groups

Qualifications

  • Registered Apprentice/Journeyman Millwright or Heavy Equipment Technician; an asset
  • Experience in the fabrication repair of heavy equipment or sub assemblies
  • Understanding of hydraulic plumbing and component groups; an asset
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently
  • Must supply own hand and air tools
