Job Profile
The Business Development Manager position will collaborate with the local, regional, and corporate offices to develop and implement business development and marketing strategies, processes, and best practices that support volume and revenue growth in the assigned industry/market area. He/she will lead efforts in building long-term client relationships, specific opportunity pursuit, ensuring internal alignment, share market insights and knowledge, and participate in win strategies.

Job Duties
- Perform and coordinate all business development activities in assigned geographic/industry territory including new client acquisition and key account management as well as key relationship development at the highest possible corporate level.
- Facilitating client meetings to understand the client's organization, key challenges, and expectations, while communicating and promoting DFI’s culture and brand to raise awareness of our ability as an innovative and dependable industry leader.
- Identifies opportunities to use Design-Build, subcontract, or Joint Venture (JV) partnerships strategically to advance DFI's growth goals.
- Participate in client-focused strategies and action plan development, that respond to client challenges and issues, that creates a competitive advantage for DFI to successfully obtain the work.
- Attend and participates in project hand-off calls between the estimating and operations teams for applicable won projects to ensure accurate transfer of contract specifications and owner expectations. Improving get work efficiency and DFI’s overall effectiveness by formulating lessons learned and best practices by conducting debrief meetings with clients, project management and executives.
- Work with regional sales teams and other stakeholders to develop new business strategies and opportunities, support the expansion of existing business, market segments, and geographic areas, and coordinate with clients who have locations across multiple regions to increase sales for the area.
- Collaborate with sales team during forecasting and budgetary processes.
- Coaching and assisting regional sales teams to sales call when necessary and assisting with the drafting and implementing of a territory management plan as needed.
- Assist in the identification and development of potential strategic partnerships including MSA’s that will support DFI's growth objectives.
- Provide general marketing support as needed, including the collection of real-time marketing data and the development of appropriate marketing collateral and presentation materials.
- Work with business units, marketing, operations, and engineering teams to drive innovation, sustainability, and new market offerings.
- Evaluate networking opportunities for potential attendance and/or participation via speaking, presentations, client events, tradeshow booth presence, associations, lunch & learns among other. Join relevant industry associations and become an active member.
- Becoming and remaining constantly informed on industry developments and the competitive landscape; communicating sector and market intelligence to team members and senior leadership in a timely and continuous manner.
- Memorializing account and opportunity data in DFI’s CRM software.
- Serve as mentor, coach, and trusted advisor to both DFI’s external and internal customers.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma in engineering, a technical field, business, or relevant experience. Professional designations are deemed an asset.
- A minimum of five (5) years' related industry experience or relevant professional experience in construction, business development, or B2B sales. Deep foundations and oil, gas, and chemical industry experience preferred.
- Prefer experience executing projects from an engineering or construction perspective either with companies that own the projects or contractors that provide services to owners.
- Ability to demonstrate several strong current and relevant client relationships within the oil, gas, and chemical Industries.
- A proactive results-orientated self-starter with a "hunter" mentality, superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with strong initiative, planning, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team on company initiatives to drive results.
- Promotes company and embody corporate values and ethics in all interactions within personal and professional environment.
- Have and maintain a current understanding of engineering and construction contract models.
- Good working knowledge of industrial processes and project development lifecycle.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills including presentation skills.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally at least 75% of time with overnight stays.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
