Job Profile

This Contracts & Credit Risk Specialist position is responsible for coordinating and administering the contract award and related contract activities, including complex and high-value contracts.
Reporting to Director – Contracts, Risk & Process Development, the Contracts and Credit Risk Specialist is responsible for various aspects of contract management including but not limited to contract formation, negotiation and conflict resolution. The role will support DFI operations, Canada business unit. As the owner of the contractual agreements with customers and its risks, this role is also responsible to identify credit risks and determine credit worthiness outside of our Credit Insurance Partner.

Job Duties

  • Maintain Master Service Agreement (MSA) library including annual review and amendments.
  • Ensure company, departmental, professional and legal ethical standards are upheld at all times.
  • Ensure regular reporting is conducted to Senior Management.
  • Accountable for ensuring appropriate terms and conditions are outlined in project contracts (negotiating an acceptable resolution to contract terms) and flow down of relevant terms to 3rd party subcontracts.
  • Analyze <$1M contracts for risk, negotiate for fairness and execute.
  • Analyze >$1M for risk and provide executive summary to authorized signors.
  • Provide technical guidance and concise contract advice to anyone handling a contract.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of contract performance during construction, and support with conflict resolution efforts where necessary.
  • Collaborate and interact with construction teams, outside project developers, and consultants including Corporate Legal Council to establish concise contract management systems.
  • Collaborate with finance to provide credit risk evaluations of new and current clients.
  • Support collections and payment restructuring, if required.
  • Maintain closure status of Projects within our Project Management module in PACT (DFI internal project management software)
  • Support Project Delivery and Operations personnel in managing contracts, including contract change management and conflict resolution.
  • Implement changes in our customer contracts to reflect DFI lesson learned, industry standards and any relevant related new or updated laws.
  • ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) data management and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in project contract management.
  • Strong negotiation abilities.
  • Superior organizational abilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Good understanding of credit, credit risk, and credit reports.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of legal terms and construction contract law preferable.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or Engineering.
  • Construction knowledge in foundation works will be considered an asset.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Multiple demands must be attended simultaneously.
  • Work requiring attention to detail is subject to frequent interruptions that require immediate attention.
  • Peak period requires an accelerated work pace as demanding deadlines create pressure.
