Job Profile
The Estimator is responsible for compiling and analyzing information about materials and labour needed for a project and the preparation and documentation to generate a quote on a project opportunity, tender or RFQ.

Job Duties
- Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on design-build, conceptual, and general tender work
- Prepare materials, equipment, and labour cost estimations
- Review proposals received
- Prepare estimates and conduct review meetings with clients
- Maintain open lines of communication with clients, contractors, and subcontractors
- Review design options and offer solutions based on cost and materials
- Effectively determine bid strategies
- Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
- Following up on lost bids and tracking reasons for loss
- Providing excellent customer service via phone, email, and face to face
- Work in collaboration with business development on strategic projects
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of construction planning experience
- CET Certification an asset
- Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builds
- Mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates
- Excellent communication skills
- Time management skills
- Must take a collaborative approach to dealing with customers and fellow employees
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Strong workplace safety practices and training
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- Demonstrated word processing and computer skills
